Balance - Louise Markey
Founder of L.F. Markey
Louise Markey, founder of LF Markey, is well initiated into the mothering game and she gives this relative newbie hope. From her Dalston store to her collaboration choices (L.F. Markey x Heal’s tablecloth anyone?) her creative output is top notch. Markey proves that an individual can balance entrepreneurship, creativity and family. Her togs are pretty good too.
Innovation - Becky Okell
Founder of Paynter Jacket Co.
My friendship with Becky Okell began in 2017. We met in the Papersmiths Shoreditch shop in 2017 and since then we’ve been on all sorts of adventures together, from running the camp shop at Port Eliot Festival to donning our bridesmaid finery at each others’ weddings. Another thing to come out of the past eight years is Okell’s business, Paynter Jacket Co. Her approach to fashion is truly innovative. Paynter’s limited edition jackets are only available four days of the year yet they sell out every time, sometimes within seconds. She’s unstoppable.
Sustainability - Cassandra Rhodin
Founder of Mini Rodini
Cassandra Rhodin is the illustrator turned founder of cult children’s label Mini Rodini. Her illustrations feature a cast of zany creatures including plenty which cater for cat enthusiasts - check out the cat mermen and mermaids. Sustainability is a key focus for Rhodin and she uses her platform to raise awareness and funds to support select charities.
Creativity - Fifi Khudhairi
Founder of Eat the Moon
Eat the Moon is the youngest brand in this round up and it’s certainly the one to watch. Fifi Khudhairi is the brain (and self-taught illustrator) behind this up-and-coming stationery brand. Khudhairi’s greeting cards feature weird but wonderful illustrations of a super stylish menagerie which, put simply, speaks to us. Think pigeons dressed in Chanel and delulu flying pigs.

Final note
International Women’s Day comes around each year, and while it’s a great moment to celebrate women in business, it’s also a time to recognise all women. The ones making big decisions, the ones pushing through tough days, and the ones we simply couldn’t do without. Take a moment to cheer on your friends, sisters, colleagues or even the women that always remembers your coffee order and greets you with a smile. Tell the women in your life how brilliant they are. Because through every challenge, we have each other. And that’s what makes us strong. Let’s celebrate that. Not just today, but every day.
