A Divine Desk - Why Chocolate and Study Are the Best Combination

A Divine Desk - Why Chocolate and Study Are the Best Combination

Looking for the best study stacks? Here's why chocolate and study are the best combination. Spoiler alert - It’s not just because choclate tastes really good!

There’s a pairing that’s followed me for as long as I’ve been reaching for my stationery: pen, paper, and a square of chocolate. From late-night study sessions, snacking while scribbling down revision notes, to the afternoon office slump where a little chocolate nudge gets me through, or those quiet mindful moments at home when I’m journaling or planning. These two have always gone hand in hand.

Why does chocolate go so well with study time?

Because it’s delicious! Well, yes, but there’s also some science behind it. Studies have shown that eating chocolate can stimulate feel-good chemicals in your brain. Dopamine production (and other chemicals like serotonin) boosts the feeling of wellbeing, and feel good emotions that helps keep you feel motivated and productivity flowing. When your dopamine dips, you know, mid-project, when everything starts to feel a bit never-ending a little square of chocolate can pick you right back up. It’s like a tiny cheerleader for your brain. Just don’t overdo it (yes, I’m reminding myself too) but a little treat for those big deadlines is a treat we all deserve!

Is chocolate actually good for productivity?

Turns out, it can be. That small dopamine hit can help push you through the boring bits, like when you’re slogging through a massive work project or revising something tricky. It’s not just a treat, it’s strategic snacking.

Why good chocolate makes creative time even better

Chocolate and creativity just work. A little bite of happiness can help unlock those creative ideas. And when the chocolate you’re eating is ethical too? Even better. That’s why Divine Chocolate is my go-to. It’s Fairtrade, it’s a certified B Corp, and it meets some of the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility. So every square feels just a little less guilty. Delicious and good to the planet? Yes please.
