Each pencil contains the same balanced and smooth graphite core found in the other Pearl pencils. It is softer than the graphite found in the Blackwing 602, but firmer than the graphite found in the Blackwing Matte, a favourite among calligraphers and illustrators.

Blacking Pearl is at around a 3B graphite grade.
I would expect nothing less from Papersmiths but these notebooks are so lovely! They look so cute and the paper is so thick and smooth. I love mine for journaling and notetaking. Highly recommend!

I already have a leather passport notebook. I bought it in the Brighton shop, which I visit regularly. About two months ago. I travel periodically, and my actual passport accumulates visas, entry and exit stamps, scuffs, and creases. My passport notebook will collect memories, dreams, and reflections, as well as scuffs, scars and creases, as I travel. I bought the online one as a present for a fellow traveller who is also a keen notebook keeper. I love the replaceable inserts as I can collect them together in a box full of memories. I might also use the box from Papersmiths. My friend was as delighted with the passport notebook as I am.

Papersmiths is a gem- beautiful pens, gorgeous packaging and the sweetest personal touches. They even included a handwritten thank you card with our order.
