Full Description

Our parents play a pivotal role in shaping who we are today, influencing everything from our relationships and work attitudes to our self-esteem. No matter our relationship with them, the impact of our origin families is profound.

Building on the success of How To Overcome Your Childhood, Getting Over Your Parents is a practical guide for navigating the legacies left by our parents. It delves into various types of parents, such as "The Preoccupied Parent," "The Overprotective Parent," and "The Controlling Parent," providing a vocabulary to understand their sometimes confusing behaviours. The focus is on understanding rather than blaming.

This book offers constructive solutions for addressing the lingering effects of a challenging childhood. It encourages us to explore our past to avoid repeating our parents' mistakes and to secure a more creative, calm, and loving future for ourselves.

Trusted Stationer of 13+ years

Papersmiths started with a single shelf of stationery in a Bristol design studio. A decade on, we still choose every piece the same way - for its story, its tactility, and the way it makes you want to sit down and write something. Visit us in Chelsea or Brighton, or shop the collection we've spent years designing and refining.
